9/11/2004 10:39:27 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 7She managed to walk all the way back to the pasture on driving reins. This is new, but she’s getting the hang of it.Lost a bit of her perfect circle since there were distractions in the inside arena. Also wasn’t very smooth on the canter...probably a bit tight inside the arena.I had a friend of mine do a touch of lounge line work with Munchie and she tolerated that well. Last week I also sat one of the kids on her (with me holding the lead line) and she was practically a lesson horse. I’m hopeful that I can keep introducing new people to her while I’m asking a bit more evey session. She’s still doing better at putting me before her environment and her anxiety, but I wouldn’t put it past her to return to that state with a new person. Lovely horse though. She’s got an ear pricked towards me all the time.
10/15/2003 8:32:47 AMLorenzo Brandy Galos 1 Injury or diseaseLorenzo either went butt over head during turn out or has developed a bad disease.
9/17/2003 8:34:47 AMAlbert Brandy Galos 1 InjuryAlbert was kicked bad enough to cause a large wound when a mare was mistakenly turned out with the geldings for a few seconds.
9/18/2004 7:53:59 PMCappuccino Brandy Galos 10Everything. He was letter perfect on the lunge line...a prince. We had to eventually stop. I’d work with this wonder horse every day.Cappuccino was the perfect remedy for my mustang horse gitters. He was the light at the end of the tunnel.
9/19/2004 7:57:00 PMLatte Deborah Porter 9This was only the 2nd time for me with Latte on a lunge line, but she did a great job. She’s smart and oh, so sweet. We just need to keep working at things. She’s a quick study and will someday be a great lesson horse once we get the basics down.Latte was so great I managed to teach three of my kids about how to handle a lunge line with her. I’d love to do the finishing work on this mare. She’s a delight and will someday be a great lesson horse.
9/24/2004 8:01:31 PMSidamo Deborah Porter 4Lesson one on the lunge line. We got a few of the basic concepts across and managed a nice long grooming, got used to the whip and did some work on back and whoa.Sid decided to take off on me and found out he could open the door and find some grain. Next time we do this it’s got to be in the round pen. No more of this taking off business. All in all, it was like a day in kindergarten.
9/25/2004 10:33:44 PMGeneral Patton - - 4We ended on a great note and did well on the left sideUnintentionally running into me to avod right sideAfter last nights work with Catherine and the carrot, I worked the friendly game with Patton. I added the rope and began what Cat had the night before. He did awesome with it on the left side, but the right was still scary for him. We started off OK on the right, but the more work I did, the more he became antsy to get me away from the right. I alternated sides back and forth. He eventually started walking into me and making me move so I couldn’t get to the right side. I continued trying with a little success. I ended on a good note when I was able to do SOME work on the right.
9/26/2004 4:22:07 PMGeneral Patton - - 10He was perfect. Not a thing wrong today!Nothing! We worked on what Catherine started with the back and forth of the whip on both sides. I even added a different type of whip (a blue lunge whip) and he had absoluetly no probloems. We worked about 10 minutes doing the side to side and the friendly game. No shying from either side. He also did not try and walk into my like yesterday.
10/2/2004 4:47:35 PMGeneral Patton - - 10EverythingNothingStarted with parelli work, remembered all! Sam got on and did two laps around the arena - one time each way. It was truly wonderful to watch! She even got him to stop on the rail before finishing on a positve note. Will be adding very light riding to his ground work so that we can further his training in a multi-demensional way.
10/1/2004 8:51:16 PMLatte Deborah Porter 9Latte continues to come along at a lovely pace. She is easy to catch, fun to train and excessively willing. We did a nice long session, nothing hard, just consistent.Nothing really. She’s just taking it nice and steady. Her shifting between gaits is improving, her circle is fairly consistently and she’s got a nice reversal.I managed to teach three of the kids how to lunge while Latee was prefecting the art. All three are in love with her. She’ll someday be a great lesson horse. She’s a little reluctant to canter, which works for them. She’s also got a little mare-to-mare damage, which I treated with cut-heal.
10/1/2004 8:53:56 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 7Munchie’s doing very well on the lunge line and I’ll ride her next time. Steady progress, which was nice to see after several weeks break. She was a bit full of piss and vinegar and tended to break into canter when asked to reverse.Munchie’s doing very well with me and I’ll start riding her more regularly. She needs to branch out to others so she can be a potential lesson horse. Right now she’s more of a one woman-experienced rider lease potential.
10/2/2004 8:56:33 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 9We did some riding and some lunge line work today. She worked out the bugs from yesterday and I was able to ride her in a bareback pad. Lovely.Standing next to the steps for mounting was either a new concept or a notion she wanted to avoid. If I got the whip - without using it - she suddenly had the idea.Munchie’s far less nervous and anxious than she was when I started. I’m very proud of her. She does, however, continue to have the mind and will of a mare. If she thinks you aren’t smarter, you’re fighting an uphill battle.
10/2/2004 9:01:18 PMLatte Deborah Porter 7Actually, I’d give her an 8, but there isn’t one on the scale. It was another solid day, but I’m not asking her for the sun and moon...yet.She continues to be hesitant to canter, which might be a good thing for a lesson horse. I’m watching to see if she’s stiff from a possible kick, but don’t see anything.Munchie is a favorite with the whole Porter family. My 11 year-old can lead her from pasture (with a few reminders not to stop and eat). She spooked at a pile of unfamiliar stuff, but figured it out quickly. We did a little driving by having Riley lead her and then fade until it was only me working her from behind. She’s a smart girl and we’ll keep this up, including driving her back to pasture.
10/3/2004 9:03:28 PMLatte Deborah Porter 6It was a short session, but Riley managed to do some independent lunge line work with Latte and both did beautifully. Latte’s going to do well with a variety of people some day.Not much, it was just a shorter session today since we did more with Munchie.Too bad Cooper is going to lose his manhood. Latte and Cooper would have a beautiful foal with a great disposition.
10/3/2004 9:10:20 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 7We got Muchie under a saddle and after I had given her a bit of time, I had each of the kids and my husband take a turn or two. Mission accomplished. Also, she was wonderful on the lunge line, which seems to help her settle for the riding. Her willingness/ability to respond to request from beginning riders is pretty limited so far. She was fine when I had the lead line or when I was walking around, but when they were in charge, it was a bit of a struggle.I should have said Latte is a favorite of the Porter family in the previous post. Sorry for the typo. I will say, however, that Muchie’s got her fan club too. She did a fine job putting up with novice riders one after another. It’s just not her cup of tea yet. We’ll keep at it under very guarded circumstances. I don’t want anyone tossed off. The other thing I need to work on with her is more trail riding as the weather allows. If anybody is heading out on a weekend with an experienced horse, let me know.
10/13/2004 5:52:56 AMLatte Brandy Galos 7She stears at the walk!!The trot was still a little quick, unbalanced and unsteerableI rode Latte yesterday and had a blast. At a walk she will turn (or even better, not turn) as I signal her. She is willing and such a good lady. We had a problem in the begining with her wanting to cut the arena short, and then once we got the whole arena, wanting to put her head out the gate, but just a few rounds and we were good. She is awesome! The trot was a lot unbalanced, but I might be too heavy for her and nobody was around to watch, so I didn’t push it.
8/15/2004 11:45:10 AMSidamo Brandy Galos 7Sid’s letting me lead him quite a way from the rest of the horses with little resistance. Not a thing. Just taking things slow and steady. We only did about 15 or 20 minutes today, but it was all good.
8/21/2004 4:27:39 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 5We had a lot more trot and canter today...not the slow poke that she’s been some days.Ho and walk were 5 or more repeat commands. We’re working on ho and back as we walk to and from the pasture. We had a good workout today, including some work in the covered arena and walking around the commotion in the barn. She’s a good girl who’ll come around, but it’s a two steps forward and one step back dance.
8/21/2004 4:29:36 PMSidamo Deborah Porter 6Sid’s sweet as can be and doing his best. Haltering, ho, back and touching everywhere are big with him.The worst thing he’ll do so far is gently and persistently back up a bit if I’ve taken him away from the other horses. Next step is to just exit the pasture and repeat when we’ve done before. I’m taking it slow and steady with Sid.
8/23/2004 2:04:44 PMRain Deborah Porter 6Rain did his best on both the lunge line and driving reins. He would reverse (with some extra prompts) and had a nice little canter.Rain has a few pony moments, like testing to see if we were going to eat when it was inappropriate. He also thinks a circle has corners, but he got a bit better at that.Athena helped on the lunge line and her buddies were enthusiastic about learning how to do it...thought they got a free lesson, which I took as a compliment.
8/22/2004 2:07:12 PMSidamo Deborah Porter 7Sid was more than willing to leave the pasture, even if it meant having to watch Jake walk off without him. No bad news at all. We are just moving slowly. To complicate matters, I brought the dog and my daughter Lena. He was fine with the extra commotion. We did about 40 minutes all together, so we are making progress towards more and longer. Whoever ends up with Sid will have a nice horse.
8/24/2004 7:32:47 AMCypress Deborah Porter 9Almost everything. Cypress remembered everything that we did the day before, gave me whatever I asked for and even managed to figure out what driving lines are for (great comedy). We had lots of stomping and tossing of his head to start the day. He seemed spring loaded and ready to go.I just about laughed out loud as he was trying to let me know that I wasn’t supposed to be standing in back of him telling him to go. He’s definately a horse who wants to climb in your lap and driving was a totally new concept for him. Also, he’s still got a bit of a jump as he shifts from trot to canter, but it’s less than yesterday. Also, he’s learning to stand still and not turn towards me at ho. Smart boy.
8/23/2004 7:35:40 AMCypress Deborah Porter 5About half way through, he settled down and did very nicely. Nice gait changes and showing me he was trying.Trying to run away with the lunge line, twice, and being pretty amped at the beginning. We are working on not being in my hip pocket when on a lead and allowing me to decide when it’s time to go. His back is better, but we’ll keep working on that too. I was really proud of his turn around during this session.
9/5/2004 10:30:34 PMSidamo Deborah Porter 5We managed to make progress by the end and finished on a high note.Sid was at the far end of the pasture and didn’t want to leave his buddies. He yanked out of my hand once and we had to start over.It had been awhile since I’d spent some time with Sid and it was a bit like starting over. He remembers what we’ve done before, but is much more interested in being with the other horses than being with me.
9/10/2004 10:33:27 PMSidamo Deborah Porter 7We got out of the gate without a fuss and had a lovely time doing walk, ho, back and leg lifts. Nothing much, just slow and steady. Sid loves the clover and I was just a bit worried for awhile that he wouldn’t want to go back. Nice turn around from last time when he ran off on me.
9/5/2004 10:35:51 PMMunchie Deborah Porter 7I was asking Munchie to go straight to riding, without any warm up and she managed fine. We also got some work done in both inside and outside arenas, as well as a good deal of the trail. She was a little spring loaded and still pretty green. Also, she set her mind against the trail until I got off and walked her a bit of the way. Then we were fine.No more fear of the big mean logs. She even walked over and around them. I have high hopes for Munchie, but it continues to be a bit of a forwards, backwards process.
11/5/2004 7:55:57 PMBean .. _ 5I got to ride Bean! She was totally mad about itI started off slow letting her smell everything before I put it on her back. She swished her tail the whole time. Not happy. I laid across the saddle for a few moments to see what she would do before I got on. Again swished her tail. Not happy. Nothing outrageous happened so I slid on gently. Ears pinned and swishing tail still. She is mad about being ridden right now. She is thinking I am going to get on her and ride her to the ground. I think she has some really good training. Need to work on gaining her trust.
11/7/2004 8:08:08 PM!Pick a Horse! Brandy Galos 5I rode Bean! She is still madTook her around 5 or 6 times this time around the arena. She is still swishing her tail. She is not sure what to think of me. She stopped whenever I wasn’t centered. She is very sensitive to leg aids. No squeezing for this girl just the lightest touch. Neck reigns like a dream. She will be a wonderful riding horse.
11/8/2004 8:13:08 PMBean .. _ 5Found out for sure she has had great trainingShe is still madI let Sophie ride her today to assess her training. Just what I suspected. Great training!!!! She is still mad as all be. Still swishing her tail back and forth. I will give her a rest from riding and do some games with her.
11/11/2004 3:58:23 PMBean .. _ 5Finally relaxedSliding stop when I wasn’t readyThe first 10 minutes where spent trying to get her to walk and warm up amd all she wanted to do was trot. Didn’t want to listen to anything I asked. After she got the wiggles out and trotted for awhile she relaxed int the ride. Head finally dropped and she seemed to enjoy herself. Next time will try lungeing her before I get on and see if that makes a difference.
11/14/2004 8:51:12 PM!Pick a Horse! Brandy Galos 5A relaxed BeanTack fitStarted out better than before but Bean still had her ears back. Found bridle that finally fit her and she was much happier! Head down and relaxed. She still wanted to trot around even though I lunged her before hand. Not as much though.
11/17/2004 8:16:39 PMToby - - 6finally got it in her head to follow on her right sideshe bucked like a bronco!Started out with the games, she was her usual "oh, alright, if you must" self. She is so touchy! Anyway, things have been progressing with her. She’s sometimes a fricken scary horse, but I trust what she is going to do. She let me put a bareback pad on her with it sinched on. She was pretty irritated but didnt do anything. We worked on backing up and yeilding to that dang carrot stick. She’s super smart and HATES being touched with it, so she picks up on the "Dont make me pick up this stick" theory very quick. She’s great while she’s being scratched with it, but lord tap her with it and it sends her through the roof! Anyway, tried the circle game...she’s done very well with it in the past, but tonight, with that bareback pad on she lost it! She was bucking and bucking and bucking....she literally looked like a rodeo horse. But the funny thing was she was not coming near me with all that noise and she was not pulling away either. It was a little hissy fit and then it was over. (Scared the bejeezus
11/23/2004 9:43:14 PMBiscotti - - 6ground polls to the leftground polls to the rightstarted off with a massage...got him all dressed up in his girdle (circingle), put side reins on and started his work out. He is still super stiff to the right. Getting him to even attempt the ground polls to the right was hard. When I did get him to go over them to the right he tripped and clipped each one. So, instead, I walked him over them to avoid him any more embarressment.... To the left, he’s a champ...nice extension, etc. Very proud of himself. After the ground polls work out, Took off his stuff, and stretched him to the right. This was not possible at the beginning...so this work may help stretch him. I would like to wait and do more of this work till he is a little better before I put anymore riders on him. Also, when he was let loose in the arena, his spine looked crooked. It is curving to the left which would explain some stiffness on the right. I am scheduling another Chiro appt. : )
11/26/2004 11:20:25 AMPete - - 10His light as air cantervery stiff to start withSam and I worked with Pete today. He has been in a few days and needed to get out because he was stocked up. It took him a few mintues to unstiffen. He was still awesome though! That 30 year old has more movement than some of the 6 year old warmbloods I have seen! Sam got him movinf and you could see the difference when his circulation started up. We also cantered him for the first time. OH MY GAWD! He looks like he is floating on air. He has incredible movement and a VERY nice gate. Sam’s expression of a kid in a candy store told me that it felt incredible also. We turned him and she cantered the other way - even bettr than the first. This kiddo is amazing. I wish I could have everyone ride him to experience him!
12/10/2004 6:57:02 PMTaffy - - 5is to have a good time with your horsedon’t stand behind it at all well horses are good kind animls but some people don’t give the hores a chance what they want but treat them right
9/24/2004 8:56:40 PMMacchiato - - 5he was pretty darn good for being in a stall all daygot ansy in the cross tiesHad a nice grooming session for him today. A good basic walking and stopping on a lead. I would love to get him a rope halter! He tends to pull a little on the halter. We took a long walk up to the waterfall. He was a little looky loo but didn’t spook or become nervous. He is a doll. I think he’s nicely mannered for a little stud. : )
1/20/2005 11:01:43 PMCypress - - 7He was listening to what I was askingHe was antsy in the cross tiesOK, so Im turning prince Cypress out with mares from now on. ha ha. Keeping him in the mustang pen with Latte has been a blessing. She has taught him what all naughty little mustang boys need to learn....and that’s respectfulness. He has been a dream while he’s been up for the flood. Sometimes us humans can’t teach what another horse can teach. I give thanks to Mama Latte for training my horse this week. Should I give her the training fees in carrots?
1/23/2005 9:05:17 PMCypress - - 6he wasn’t scared of the height stickI fell offCypress is really starting to blossom and I feel we are over this big hump in ground manners. I feel he is so ready to go on to more advanced riding training. He has a natural advantage because he is so balanced and I dont have to work on things like leaning into corners or steering. I rode him bareback for about 2 minutes before Rocket spooked and Cy decided he should too and I lost my balance and bit the dust. I wanted to get back on but I was hurting and didn’t want to push it. Dang. Anyway, he’s once again my baby and he is letting me be affectionate with him instead of turning his nose up to me. BTW, he’s just barely 15hh today. Shorter then I thought.
9/24/2004 9:09:56 PMGeneral Patton - - 7lunged beautifullystill tried to guard that right side Started Mary with the friendly game without the rope tied on the carrot stick. Then started with the rope. Was able to do most anything with the carrot stick. I could throw it across his back, slide it, swing it around him. He still was a nervous wreck on that right side, BUT, has come so far with tolerating it...I would like to get him to the stage where he completely trusts eveything on that side. I let him move out if he needed, but kept pushing the issue of me working around him on the right side. He was great. He’s trying so hard and is truly being brave. I could lunge him with w/o the carrot stick by just bringing the energy up on his shoulder then slowing him by putting the energy on his hip. He completely understands that. Cool. He is a little confused on that right side of what i am asking. He hasn’t gotten to the point where he understands that just because things are going on around him, doesnt mean he is being asked to do something. He needs to learn to just BE. Then we can move ont
10/11/2004 11:15:11 PMToby - - 5She’s easy to love! She knows it and uses it!Did the friendly game...she’s fine with that...got bored and irritated quick... she bolted but I caught her. She got bored within 2 minutes of the approach and retreat with the string. At least we know she’s curious, not spooky and will need to have her mind active at all times. She’ll excel in any direction. Did find out she will challenge you off the bat and you dang well better let her know whos bigger right away. Will be a fun cool horse to work with. I’m excited.
10/16/2004 3:40:56 PMBiscotti - - 7He understood! He’s so stubborn!Did the first 3 games with him today. Taught him to disengage his hindquasrters and taught him to QUIT biting me! By the time I was done (after about and hour), He was in his left brain and paying attention and was quiet. When the session was over, I let him free and he was cantering and trotting without buckling under himself once. He can’t trot in a straight line but he is definitely improving health wise!
2/23/2005 7:03:35 PMLennox - - 3I learned what he is wanting to do by his actions and he has great respectHe wa snot able to cross his front right leg over his leftCatherine and I started level 1 Parelli ground work with him today. He was completely uninterested in basically all we were trying to ask. He has wonderful respect of people around and does not in any way intrude with your space. The Parelli work (friendly game, porcupine) was of no interest and when asked to cross over he was unable to. he did great going to the left, but the right was not at all capable. Not an issue of not doing it, but he honestly couldn’t. Whiskey was in riding at the time, so Lennox was completely occupied with that - showing me he wants to WORK! :) Will be starting carrot stretches, body conditioning and trust building (he hasyet to know we all mean utter ove!)
2/24/2005 7:07:07 PMLennox - - 9He is a gorgeous mover! Not stretching out in back and back end - very tightWhitney came and test rode him today. One word - BEAUTIFUL! He is forward and very willing - no problems with anything. Took everything very slowly with saddling and found Pat’s saddle to be a good fit. He did everything Whitney asked except stretch. He was very confined to his front shoulders.
3/2/2005 7:09:35 PMLennox - - 10He came right to me when he saw meWalked away from me when he saw SidTrust building today and carrot stretches. Came right to me and loved all over me - which was fabulous! Did some great stretching for for a mintue or so and we bonded for about 10. He eventually had the overwhelming urge to go hang with Sid, so we ended on that!
3/5/2005 7:48:51 PM!Pick a Horse! Brandy Galos 7He responded in more ways than I planned! There were times where I was way too uncoordinated!Had a lesson with Ginger. Wanted to begin the bonding process so that we can move on and allow his inner wonder horse to come out. He is a MUCH different personality than Patton and is actually allowing me to become challenged in what I thought I knew best! Ginger stated it best in that Patton is an in baby stage and sees Mom and is totally content with just having me around. Lennox on the other hand is a 5 year old that has begun to ask why and to test his boundaries to see how far out he can go (she of course said it way better!). I think this analogy fits beautifully! With this in mind, we actually made some GREAT headway. We basically worked with him to give me his attention and to allow me to maintian it. When he shifted his attention, I was able to get him back to me. It was a little difficult at times because I only had an 8 foot lead and it was hard to get him to disengage (it ended up looking like I was trying to lunge him in a really small circle!) It was an awesome lesson and I feel I hav

4/1/2005 11:07:45 PMSidamo Brandy Galos 6Such a sweet and affectionate horse Worked with Sid for several hours out in the field. Worked on leading and ground manners. He loves the attention and I learned all his itchy spots. He’s progressing nicely. (3 hours)
5/3/2005 11:46:14 AMIsis Brandy Galos 5
8/27/2004 10:07:05 PMCypress - - 7steering and leg aids have come so far! Im still too big for him!He had a really nice fluid forward walk. His circles were actual circles! He is understanding legs aids for walk, trot, turning and the beginnings of bending. Wow. He’s so cool! Im so happy with him.
9/4/2004 8:34:30 PMBiscotti - - 7He trotted the whole arena with out buckling his hind legs. He still didn’t move like a normal horse. When I brought him up from pasture, his head was higher, not bent down...his tail was loose and swinging. He seems to not know where his feet are going. I was watching and it looked like a person does when they walk around with their eyes closed...sort of flopping feet out a little. I can see his vision problem now. He needs glasses. Do they make those for horses??? : ) When in the arena, he surely passed the poll test this time...he did not bend his neck down...did not scrape the polls...When led over with his head held up, he passed again... When I sent him off it was very sweet...he would trot off to the end of the arena, then trot back shake his head and try a teeny buck and trot right back to me as if to say "See, I feel better!" I was VERY pleased. He was very well trained in the past, he has excellent ground manners. He was very excited to go back to the pasture and was prancing just a bit but NEVER walked past my shoulder, he was also on a loose lead rope the whole time. : )
9/4/2004 8:41:38 PMGeneral Patton - - 7he stopped shying from the lunge linehe does NOT trust the lunge line quite yetMary asked me to show her how to lunge Patton. We went into the round pen with the lunge line and the whip. Before I even got into the round pen he shyed away from the whip laying against the wall. So, Mary and I decided to just rub the lunge line on his body, let him sniff it, chew on it a bit... It was productive because at first, she couldn’t get the line rubbed on his neck...but at the end she would let her rub it on his neck all the way to about half way down his belly. He got scared about half way down, so she moved back up to his neck and ended on a good note. So, Mary’s task is to get that lunge line rubbed all over his body and legs before we move on to the whip and do the same thing. Then on to lungeing! : )
9/11/2004 12:18:00 AMCypress - - 3He looked goodHe almost kicked my face inHe was really giving some attitude tonight. He kicked out while in mid air over a jump...then aimed for my face another time with his hind legs. He also had this wierd "boing" when transitioning from walk to trot with a couple tosses of his head. When I would try to walk the arena with him while lungeing, he would stop and reverse anytime I would get a little ahead of him...which is good, because Deb taught him well, but I know he was getting confused on what I wanted. Oh well, better next time. He was great the day before when Sam rode him. : )
1/13/2005 9:41:51 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 7Progressed quickly through friendly gameShe’s still cautious, but quickly building trust.Lexi is a great horse with a ton of potential and a wonderful mind. I’m enjoying her very much. She is very thoughtful and learns quickly. I anticipate that her progress will be quick and steady. 1.5 hours
1/5/2005 5:15:36 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 7She learned it was safe to stand close to me.still scared, but willing to take risksThis was a week and a half ago when I first worked with Lexi. I can’t remember the exact date, so this entry and the one previous to it are out of order. (I’ve just now figured out how to use the BMS, so I’m a little behind.) We spent a couple of hours just getting to know one another. Lots of cuddling and carrots! By the end, she was calm and very comfortable with me. It made a great foundation to start from. 2 hours
1/16/2005 5:38:03 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 7friendly game improving, also learning to move away from pressurelow energy. I think we were both tiredShe’s learning fast, and starting to get the hang of moving away from pressure. Great start.
1/21/2005 8:40:59 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 5Friendly game is awsome! Her left hip is really bothering her.Lexi is progressing very quickly. She is so much more comfortable and relaxed. She ran around during turnout and must have re-injured her left hip. She is fine walking forward and turning either direction, but backing up is really painful. I’d suggest rest and a chiropractic adjustment. 1 hour (+ 1.5 hours from the previous entry)
1/29/2005 2:42:42 PMBean Ashley Fridell 9she was not shiwsh her tail and pinning her earsshe always wanted to trotbean had a great ride yesterday i really think she was feeling much better. i rode her in a bareback pad and i think it might of helped her because of the wait. and that also may be a reason on why she did not give me so much trouble. she did not really fight me either. the most she did was raise her head in protest. and this was only because she wanted to trot.
2/4/2005 11:08:38 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 9Her attention span is really growingThe weather was distracting. We had a downpour!Lexi was so much more attentive and her attention span is really increasing. She is speeding through the games and will be through her level one ground work in no time. What a great horse! Her left hip seems to be so much better this week. (2 hours)
2/11/2005 2:38:39 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 7She’s much less reactive than she has been Great day. I can see her being more interested in the games and happy to be with me. She’s learning to stay with me when I challenge her more. (1 hour)
2/15/2005 5:04:42 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 9She’s so willing to learn!  I was so impressed with Lexi tonight. She is calm, thoughtful and responsive and willing to try anything I ask. What a great horse! (2 hours)
2/18/2005 11:34:42 AMLexus Ginger Kennell 9Played out in the field. Lexi is so much happier out in the field. We progressed in all the games and her overall attitude has improved dramatically. We both like having more space to play in. (1 hour)
2/21/2005 8:09:04 PMLexus Ginger Kennell 9Her confidence is improving  Great day. We played out in the field and we have a good foundation on all the games. She is still learning, but is understanding how to move away from pressure really well. She asks a lot of questions about what I want her to do. She’s really a joy to play with! (2 hours)
3/1/2005 9:17:35 PMTuaca Amanda Carroll 7He was collected almost the whole time! ENGLISH TOO, NOT WESTERN LOOKING!Trying to canter, before and after transitions, picking up wrong lead.Well, Tuaca did pretty well today, what am I talking about he did fantastic, I rode him both saddled and bare back and both were FANTASTIC! He stayed collected and actually looked very well put together and could have passed as a VERY well trained Hunter or Dressage horse. He is still dead to my leg sometimes, but is doing better! And is doing well with NOT running me into the wall, I think he finds it funny!!!! He cantered exceptionally well but did keep pulling the reins through my hand, which I didn’t appreciate, but he is still only 6 I think he is still working on his balance, I bet it would be better in the out door arena! I can’t wait until our first lesson with Brandy on Friday (the 11th) right before the show! It’ll be PERFECT!!!
3/11/2005 11:24:52 PMSidamo Ginger Kennell 7he’s a wonderful big bear Sid and I spent a few hours getting to know one another this evening. He loves to be scratched and I learned all his best itchy spots. What a big ball of LOVE! I really enjoyed him and his very baby personality. He’s also a very quick study and picked up some advanced leading games like a pro. He seemed to enjoy the attention very much. (3 hours)
3/5/2005 5:20:38 PMTuaca Amanda Carroll 10He was listening and COLLECTING on the trail!not wanting to slow down!Tuaca was such a good boy, we went riding with Raina and her rider! It was quite a nice afteroon, they were both a little squirly but it was really windy. The best thing had to be that he was collecting and listening to me on the trail, he even jumped over a log, he pointed himself at it, so I was like, if he wants to go over it, I guess he can. he only troted over it and didn’t even jump, but it was fun! Then when we were coming back Raina was troting ahead of us and we were quite a ways back to I let him canter to catch up, he wanted to hand gallop but I told him no, so he just cantered we caught up to her and then he cantered next to her completely collected and everything!!!!!!!! I wish we had been in an event because he was booking and we could have gotten a really nice time on a course like that!!!!!!! ~Amanda
3/25/2005 9:20:02 PMLennox Amanda Carroll 7riding him with no suprisessturrip irons at his sidesWell, I learned today what sets off his "accidents", I think I’m going to call them "accidents" because that;s what they are. He gets clostrophobic and scared and just doesn’t know what to do. Atleast it isn’t that explosive, deff. not what I was expecting from such a BIG horse! He’s such a sweety though. I feel that he just needs his confidence boosted and I hope that I can do that, SLOWLY and surely I think it will happen. He just needs a couple (2 or 3) people to work with him all the time and make him feel secure in everything that he does! ~Amanda~
4/8/2005 11:15:12 PMSidamo Ginger Kennell 4He was trying hard to understand and finally allowed me to approach himHe seemed really terrifiedI was suprised at Sids behavior today. Something must have happened to upset him. I have never had difficulty catching him and he has always seemed very comfortable and playful with me. I am concerned that he has taken a step back and is feeling skeptical about people again. My heart went out to him today. (1 hour)
